Tips for Microsoft Word

Dividing Lines between Paragraphs
     1. To create a thin continuous line, type three hyphens and press Enter (---).
     2. To create a thicker, bolder line, use underscores (___).
     3. To create a dotted line, use asterisks (***).
     4. To create a double line, use equal signs (===).
     5. To create a wavy line, use tildes (~~~).
     6. To create a triple fat line, use pound signs (###).

Current Date and Time in Word
     1. Position the cursor where you want to insert the date or time.
     2. Do one of the following:
           •      To insert the date, press ALT+SHIFT+D.
           •      To insert the time, press ALT+SHIFT+T.

If you click on this button, it will allow you to choose the kind of tab stop you need (Left-aligned tab, Center-aligned tab, Right-aligned tab, Decimal-aligned tab and Bar tab (inserts a vertical bar). You can also use set up first line and hanging indents.

           Left Tab: Aligns text to the left.
           Center Tab: Aligns text to the center.
           Right Tab: Aligns text to the right.
           Decimal Tab: Aligns text at the decimal points.


Create a More Precise Ruler
By default, the Word Ruler Bar is demarcated by tenths of an inch. If you need precision down to hundredths of inches, hold down the ALT key while working the ruler.


Quickly Change the Case of Text
Select the text you want to change and press SHIFT+F3. Each time you press the F3 key, the text case switches between Title Case, UPPERCASE, and lowercase
