Many
of us will be looking for new gadgets and software during the upcoming season.
There are a few simple concepts that you should remember before rushing out to
gather these new items.
First,
separate your wants from your needs. Quite often, we don't know what we would
do with a new item, however we want it. Be choosy and buy with care. Computer
components are not meant to be collectible items.
As
a rule, give a new item a year to feel it's way around the marketplace. DVD (digital
videodisk) drives have changed drastically since they were introduced; CD Rewriters
are standard on new computers. Let new items evolve. Catch up on technology after
it's been around and proven. In essence, don't buy it just to keep up with the
Jones.
Next,
be prepared for the worst when installing something new. Sometimes when we add
new components to our computers, everything goes wrong. Tech support staffs are
not always able to help with problems in compatibility and bugs. Be ready to do
some research, some reading and some repairs.
