Web
Page Design When
surfing the web, you may have noticed a variety of styles and personalities. Web
design companies develop these pages for our viewing pleasure. The colors, sounds,
animation and overall style of the site are a result of thier work. The
current trend in the computer industry is to take the technical out of the Internet
and put the human touch back in. There are many firms located here on the Central
Coast specializing in web design. One such firm called Internet
Design (ID). The
key to a good site is to keep it fresh to encourage repeat visits. Providing a
well-organized site that moves quickly and provides solid information is essential.
Many details go into the design that many of us take for granted. Creating a good
site includes links that appear when an individual performs a "Search"
on their computer. Color, animation and motion are required to keep our interest. LoriAnn
Alita of ID, explains that selecting a good service is crucial. The information
viewed on a page must be stored on a computer (called a server) for access at
any time. When we select a specific button or address on our screen, our computer
must make a connection with the computer "hosting" the site. It is very
similar to placing a telephone call. Dial the correct sequence of number and you
are connected with your neighbor, friend or family member. Ensuring the connection
is operational at all times is vital. Too
often, a business assigns a staff member to develop and maintain their site. This
results in the site not taking advantage of the newest technology and often results
in outdated information. Alita points out that "businesses and individuals
go to seminars to try and learn in two days what has taken years to develop. Making
information spectacular and easy to use requires coordination of multiple computers,
connections and views." Look
around at the details that appear on a web page next time you are on the Internet.
Each of the activities you perform, from listening to sound to searching for specific
words enacts a host of behind the scenes activities. If you are a planning your
own site, do your research, look around and consider the talents of the many Internet
design firms in our area. Afterall, they specialize so you can concentrate on
your areas of interest. If
